Two United Nations peacekeepers from Ethiopia were killed on Monday during an ambush while on patrol in South Sudan's Jonglei state.

Seven other people were injured in the attack, including three additional peacekeepers.

The United Nations reported that this incident brings the total number of peacekeepers killed in the line of duty this year to nine. The violence comes as fears grow of the country relapsing into civil war.
