3 teens arrested after Austin shooting spree: 12 attacks, 4 injured

crime & law

Three teenagers are in police custody following a weekend shooting spree in southern Austin, Texas. At least 10 shootings occurred, leaving four people wounded, with one victim reported in critical condition.

Austin police chief Lisa Davis stated that the suspects allegedly used stolen cars to drive around the capital city, taking aim at various buildings and houses. Due to the indiscriminate nature of the attacks, city officials implemented an exceptional public safety measure, ordering residents in a large southern section of the city to shelter in place.

Mayor Kirk Watson noted that no motive has been identified and the actions appear to be random. However, investigators believe the incidents were a mix of both random and targeted shootings.
