Ukraine, Saudi Arabia Announce Defense Deal, Zelensky Visits

international relations defense & military

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has embarked on a diplomatic push in the Middle East, securing a military agreement with Saudi Arabia and seeking to strengthen ties with other nations. The visit comes as Kyiv looks to bolster support amid uncertainties regarding Western aid.

Ukraine is offering its expertise in countering drone attacks – developed through experience in the ongoing war with Russia – to countries in the region facing similar threats, particularly from Iran. This exchange is aimed at attracting foreign support and funding for Ukraine’s defense efforts.

Discussions are underway with several countries, including the UAE and Qatar, to establish security agreements. Ukraine is also exploring opportunities to involve China in peace efforts to end the war with Russia, according to the country’s foreign minister. Kyiv is currently assisting five Middle Eastern nations with countering drone attacks.
