The Trump administration is pushing to dismiss a lawsuit blocking President Donald Trump's planned $400 million ballroom project. The construction is slated for the site of the former East Wing of the White House.

President Trump's Justice Department is using a shooting at the White House Correspondents' Dinner on Saturday to pressure preservationists to drop their legal challenge against the project.

On Sunday, the administration asked the National Trust for Historic Preservation to end the lawsuit. Assistant Attorney General Brett Shumate has given the organization until 9 a.m. Monday to dismiss its legal action.
