Representative Andy Ogles of Tennessee lost his Republican primary on Thursday night. Former Tennessee Agriculture Commissioner Charlie Hatcher defeated the two-term representative in a race for a significantly reshaped congressional district.
Ogles, a fervent ally of Donald Trump, lost despite receiving the president's endorsement and support via a tele-rally.
The defeat comes during a primary season marked by an unusually high number of incumbents losing renomination. Separately, Senator Marsha Blackburn's campaign for governor is advancing.
