Matthew Perry's assistant sentenced to over 3 years for fatal ketamine dose

legal proceedings

Kenneth Iwamasa, a former personal assistant to Matthew Perry, was sentenced Wednesday to three years and five months in federal prison. Iwamasa pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute ketamine resulting in death or serious bodily injury in connection with the Friends star's 2023 overdose.

Prosecutors stated that Iwamasa, who had no medical training, acted as the actor's enabler, drug messenger, and de facto doctor. In the days leading up to Perry's death, Iwamasa administered more than 25 shots of ketamine to the actor. He injected Perry with the fatal dose of the drug on the day the actor was found dead in a hot tub at his Los Angeles residence.

Iwamasa was the last person to see Perry alive and was the one who found him dead in his Jacuzzi. His sentencing marks the fifth and final resolution of a two-and-a-half-year investigation and prosecution following the actor's death.
