Israel seeks US support for plan to remove Palestinians from Gaza

Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz has stated that there is no real solution for Gaza without the depopulation and migration of Palestinians from the territory. During a conference hosted by the news site Ynet and the newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth, Katz asserted that the Israeli government is organised and prepared to remove Palestinians by sea, air, or every way possible.

The Israeli government is currently seeking support and approval from the United States to move forward with these plans. Katz indicated that Israel is waiting for the U.S. to determine where the displaced Gazans should be taken, suggesting that U.S. backing could tip the regional balance in favour of forced resettlement.

The proposal has been widely condemned as ethnic cleansing and forced displacement. Under the Geneva Conventions, the forced displacement of civilians in occupied territory is considered a war crime.
