A cargo ship was attacked by armed assailants in the Red Sea off the coast of Yemen on Sunday. The UK Maritime Trade Office reported that the incident occurred 30 nautical miles southwest of Hodeida, an area under the control of Houthi rebels.
The attack took place in one of the world's most crucial trade transit routes amid a fragile ceasefire between Iran and the U.S. It marks the latest instance of security risks for ships transiting the Middle East region, following recent vows by the Iran-backed Houthi group to resume attacks in the Red Sea.
In response to the incident, the UK Maritime Trade Office has advised vessels to transit with caution. The agency further urged ships to report any suspicious activity.
