Excess heat and wildfires are currently affecting the Tour de France. The third stage of the race, scheduled for Monday, July 7, will pass near an area in southwest France where wildfires have broken out.

The route for the third stage travels from Granollers in Spain, across the border into Les Angles in France. The Trevillach fire in the Pyrénées-Orientales region has burned approximately 1,500 hectares and was reported burning around 70km from the finish.

As a result, local authorities and race organisers have banned spectators from the stage and urged fans not to attend the end of the route to cheer on riders. Access to the route will be limited to riders and essential vehicles only.
