BP has formally appointed Ian Tyler as its permanent chair on Wednesday, concluding a months-long search to resolve boardroom turmoil. Tyler, who has served as the interim chair since May, assumes the role immediately following the surprise dismissal of former chairman Albert Manifold.

Tyler joined the BP board as a non-executive director in April 2025 before stepping in as interim leader this summer. In his permanent role, Tyler has pledged to lead the evolution of the board.
