Tesla Gets UK License to Supply Electricity

legislation

Tesla has received approval to supply electricity to households and businesses across Great Britain. The energy regulator, Ofgem, granted Tesla Energy Ventures Limited an electricity supply licence, effective Wednesday, following a months-long assessment. The licence covers electricity supply activities and is separate from Tesla’s existing generation licence. This allows the company to provide power to domestic and non-domestic consumers in England, Scotland and Wales, but not Northern Ireland. Tesla Energy Ventures currently provides power in Texas and can now replicate this setup in Great Britain. The move expands the company’s energy ambitions, enabling it to directly sell electricity to customers.
