A drone strike targeting a market and fuel depot in the disputed Abyei region along the border of Sudan and South Sudan has killed at least 153 people and left dozens injured. Local officials and South Sudanese authorities have blamed Sudan's military for the attack, which caused a large fire at a fuel depot that continued to burn into Tuesday.

Another drone strike occurred Sunday evening near a market in al-Dibab, West Kordofan state, killing 80 people, mostly commuters. Witness Ahmed Wadi reported helping bury 50 bodies, including his brother, Mohamed. In the capital city of Khartoum, a separate drone attack on Monday killed four people, including three children.

The United Nations has condemned drone strikes that have killed hundreds of people across Sudan recently, calling the events an escalation in the country's humanitarian crisis. Rights groups have further warned that unmanned aircraft are increasingly targeting civilians and infrastructure during one of the bloodiest weeks of the ongoing war.
