Europe May Face Jet Fuel Shortages Within Weeks

Europe faces potential flight cancellations as jet fuel supplies dwindle due to disruptions in the Middle East. The head of the International Energy Agency warned that Europe has approximately six weeks of jet fuel remaining.

Concerns are rising that shortages could begin in early May if tankers do not resume passage through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for oil transport. Around one fifth of the world’s jet fuel originates from the region.

Without restored oil supplies in the coming weeks, flight cancellations are anticipated, potentially impacting summer travel. Efforts are underway to maximize existing refining capacity to mitigate the situation.
