Paramount Skydance Corp. has asked a U.S. judge to require 12 states, including California, to post a $1.88 billion bond. The request follows an antitrust lawsuit filed by these states to block the media giant's pending merger with Warner Bros. Discovery Inc.

The requested bond is intended to cover the fees and costs Paramount must pay if the completion of the tie-up is delayed.

The $111 billion acquisition has been postponed until the conclusion of a trial scheduled for March. Paramount has agreed to delay the proposed acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery as late as June 2027 while the state attorneys general's case heads to trial.
