MAGA Inc., the super PAC aligned with President Donald Trump, said Saturday that it will spend $10 million to support Republican Ken Paxton’s US Senate bid in Texas. According to a filing with the Federal Election Commission, this represents the committee's largest expenditure of the current election cycle.
The spending comes as Republicans express nervousness regarding the tight Senate race in the Lone Star state. The move reflects concerns that a seat once considered safe for Republicans may be viable for Democrats with the candidacy of James Talarico, and Republicans hope Trump’s political war chest can boost Paxton.
This marks the first significant expenditure in a premier general election contest by MAGA Inc. Previously, the PAC's only donation this midterm cycle was approximately $800,000 to Darline Graham.
President Trump has pledged more than $400 million through his super PAC to boost Republican candidates in the upcoming midterms. GOP candidates have been waiting for the deployment of these funds, as MAGA Inc. currently holds at least $400 million in campaign funds.
