A US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent fatally shot a 26-year-old Colombian man in Biddeford, Maine, on Monday. This incident marks the second time in one week that ICE officers have used deadly force, following a shooting in Houston, Texas, where an agent killed a Mexican man during a traffic stop.
Maine House Speaker Ryan Fecteau confirmed the fatal shooting in Biddeford via a post on a personal Facebook page. Bystander video from the scene, located southwest of Portland, showed agents attempting to slow a white sedan that was driving in circles in an intersection. An eyewitness reported hearing at least four gunshots after seeing several ICE agents surround the vehicle.
Maine Senator Angus King has demanded a transparent investigation into the incident. King pointed out that the agents involved in the shooting were not wearing body cameras.
