Israel has begun taking control of aid ships bound for Gaza far from its shores, an Israeli source cited by Israeli army radio said on Wednesday.

The boats, which set sail from various European ports, aim to deliver aid to Gaza and break through a years-long Israeli blockade.

Seven out of 58 vessels were captured by Israel near Crete. Organizers of the Global Sumud Flotilla stated that the vessels were seized hundreds of miles from Gaza.
