Iran War Escalates: Strikes, Marines, and Houthis Join Conflict

armed conflict defense & military

The Middle East conflict has entered its fifth week, escalating with attacks extending across the region. Israel struck Tehran, and Saudi Arabia intercepted numerous drones, following Yemen-based Houthi militants’ entry into the war with a missile attack on Israel. The group has pledged further attacks.

Recent strikes have targeted residential areas and a university in Tehran, alongside a southern Iranian port where at least five people were killed. Multiple explosions were reported in eastern and northeastern Tehran. A family of four was also killed in Iran’s Bushehr province.

Amidst the escalating violence, diplomats from the region convened in Pakistan. Simultaneously, thousands of US marines have arrived in the Middle East, with reports suggesting the potential deployment of up to 10,000 troops.

Antiwar protests have emerged in Tel Aviv and US cities as fears grow that the conflict will spiral further out of control.
