Jacob Misiorowski threw the fastest pitch by a major league starter since tracking began in 2008 as the Milwaukee Brewers defeated the Colorado Rockies 7-1 on Saturday night in Denver. The 24-year-old right-hander fired a 103.7 mph fastball low and outside to Kyle Karros in the third inning.
Misiorowski improved his record to 7-2 and lowered his ERA to 1.50, allowing only one unearned run on four hits and three walks while striking out eight over seven innings. In addition to his record-setting fastball, he threw 52 pitches at 100 mph or faster and set a record with 45 pitches at 101 mph or greater. A 2025 rookie All-Star, Misiorowski currently leads the league in strikeouts with 116, WHIP at 0.789, fewest hits per nine innings at 4.7, and strikeouts per nine innings at 13.7.
The outing included several tense moments. Misiorowski was hit in the calf by a comebacker from Troy Johnston in the second inning but remained in the game after being checked by a trainer. In the sixth, he hit Tyler Freeman in the helmet with a 98.2 mph cutter. Despite these incidents, Brewers manager Pat Murphy praised the pitcher's maturity and consistency.
Milwaukee's offense provided strong support with five solo home runs. Brice Turang hit two, while David Hamilton, William Contreras, and Jake Bauers each added one. Hamilton tied a career high with four hits, and Bauers recorded four walks. The Rockies' only run came in the fifth inning after the Milwaukee defense faltered.
