Kenya has confirmed an eighth case of Ebola, according to Director-General for Health Patrick Amoth. The announcement was made on Sunday, bringing the total number of infections in the country to eight.

The latest patient tested positive while in quarantine. Health authorities stated that the individual had been identified as a contact of the country's first Ebola patient and was likely exposed to them.

The outbreak in Kenya began when an infected traveler entered the country from the Democratic Republic of Congo through Uganda.

Meanwhile, the Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo continues to spread to new areas. A senior health official noted that the disease has now spread to an eighth province in the DRC.
