Paris Saint-Germain secured their second consecutive Champions League title after defeating Arsenal on penalties in a dramatic final held at the Puskas Arena in Budapest. Celebrations erupted across the French capital, with approximately 20,000 fans gathering on the Champs-Elysees and over 40,000 people watching the victory on giant screens at the Parc des Princes stadium.
While many celebrations remained peaceful, smaller groups caused disturbances throughout the city. Vandalism targeted shops, including a bakery and a restaurant, and six vehicles were damaged. In the 8th Arrondissement, a group attempted to storm a police station, and supporters aimed fireworks at officers. Police also cleared bicycle barricades in the 16th Arrondissement and dispersed a crowd that briefly blockaded the main ring road.
To maintain order, French authorities deployed thousands of officers, with reports citing 22,000 personnel. Police utilized teargas to manage crowds and disperse skirmishes, particularly around the Parc des Princes. One police officer was injured during the unrest.
Police reported that more than 130 arrests were made by 11 p.m., though other reports noted 79 people were detained with 45 taken into custody. These security measures followed violent clashes during the club's first title win last year, which resulted in more than 500 arrests across France and reports of two deaths and nearly 200 injuries.
