Israeli strikes kill eight in south Lebanon, Hezbollah targets Israeli soldiers

armed conflict defense & military

Israel and Hezbollah continue to clash in south Lebanon despite a shaky ceasefire that has been in place since Israel sent troops into the region to battle the Iran-backed militant group in early March. The ceasefire has frayed further as violence persists between the two sides.

On Tuesday, Hezbollah launched several drones at Israeli soldiers in south Lebanon. Hezbollah claimed the attack injured several soldiers, while the Israeli military stated that interceptor missiles were fired at the incoming drones. Israel also issued new displacement orders for south Lebanon and carried out airstrikes as the fraying ceasefire failed to stop fighting.

Recent strikes have resulted in casualties among Lebanese forces. In Bint Jbeil, a Lebanese soldier and his brother were killed on Wednesday. Additionally, an Israeli strike in the village of Majdal Zoun wounded two Lebanese soldiers during a rescue operation on Tuesday.
