Hegseth blasts Europe, Asia for 'free-riding' as US Hormuz blockade goes global

armed conflict defense & military

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced that Operation Epic Fury has achieved a decisive result in just weeks. The mission, which focuses on preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons, is now entering a new phase. Hegseth stated that this transition provides Iran with the opportunity to pursue a "good and wise" peace deal.

The Pentagon chief emphasized that the U.S. blockade of the Strait of Hormuz is growing stronger each day. Asserting total control over the region, Hegseth stated that no one sails from the Strait of Hormuz to anywhere in the world without the permission of the United States Navy. To further reinforce the blockade, a second aircraft carrier will soon be deployed.

The operation has now expanded globally, following the seizure of two vessels in the Indo-Pacific this week. Amidst these developments, Hegseth criticized European and Asian countries for relying on the U.S. military to reopen the vital strait after it was closed by the war against Iran.
