Kizza Besigye, a prominent Ugandan opposition figure, collapsed on Wednesday while attending a court session in the capital, Kampala. Besigye is currently on trial for treason.
The collapse occurred as the opposition leader protested what he has long felt is personal injustice in the trial that is riveting the East African country.
Following the incident, Besigye was reported to be unconscious in the hospital. His wife stated in an X post early Thursday that he has been admitted to an intensive care unit.
