An Israeli airstrike killed at least eight Palestinians and wounded between 20 and 22 people attending a funeral in Nuseirat in the central Gaza Strip on Friday.
The attack occurred while mourners were attending the funeral for a person who had been killed by another Israeli strike in the area earlier in the day.
The Israeli military stated that it had struck a terrorist cell from the Islamic Jihad militant group, the second-biggest militant group in Gaza. Military officials added that they were aware of claims that several uninvolved individuals had been harmed.
Israel and the Hamas militant group had agreed to a ceasefire deal in October.
