Two drones were spotted flying over a key military base in western Germany late Thursday. Authorities reported the sighting just two days after another security incident involving an unmanned aircraft in the eastern part of the country.
An explosive-laden drone was discovered on the tarmac at Leipzig/Halle Airport, found near a runway and a Ukrainian Antonov Airlines cargo plane. The airport is considered a strategic hub for military and logistics transport.
Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt stated that Germany faces daily hybrid warfare attacks from abroad. These events come amid a trend where drone sightings over civilian and cargo airports have been reported more frequently.
