Ukraine launched one of its largest drone attacks since the start of the war, targeting the Moscow region and other areas of Russia. Moscow's mayor reported that 600 drones flew toward the capital's region, while Russia's defense ministry stated it shot down 822 drones in total. The assault, described by Governor Andrey Vorobyov as one of the most massive in recent memory, caused a fire at a distribution warehouse and struck a major logistics hub, with footage showing a large column of smoke. At least six people were killed in the Russian capital and the southern Rostov region, and three others were wounded.
President Volodymyr Zelensky confirmed additional strikes on military and industrial infrastructure deep within Russian territory. In the Samara region, Ukrainian domestically produced Flamingo missiles hit a rocket plant and an air base. Other targets included the Savasleyka air base, which Ukraine stated housed aircraft used for missile attacks, an oil facility in Ust-Luga, and a production unit of the Roscosmos space agency.
In response, Russian forces launched missile strikes on Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities, sparking fires in at least two districts of the Ukrainian capital. These attacks killed five people and wounded more than a dozen. Meanwhile, NATO jets were reportedly called into action further south, highlighting the expanding reach of drone warfare.
