President Donald Trump remains in excellent health and is fully fit to carry out his duties as Commander-in-Chief, according to a memo released by the White House. The announcement follows the president's fourth publicly disclosed medical exam of his second term, which took place earlier this week at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.
Navy Capt. Sean Barbabella, the president's physician, reported that Trump demonstrated strong cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, and overall physical function. The comprehensive evaluation included a cognitive test, a CT scan, heart imaging, and cancer screenings conducted by 22 specialists. Dr. Barbabella noted that the president's cognitive and physical performance are excellent, although he has gained 14 pounds since his last physical exam in 2025.
The medical memo acknowledged that the president has been grappling with lower leg swelling and benign hand bruising. While the White House maintains he is fit to serve, independent physicians have raised questions regarding these recurrent symptoms. Trump, who turns 80 in June and is the oldest person to assume the presidency, frequently describes himself as fitter and more energetic than his predecessor, Joe Biden.
