Liverpool FC announced on Saturday that they have parted ways with head coach Arne Slot with immediate effect. The Dutchman was sacked after two seasons in charge of the Merseyside club.
Slot won the Premier League title in his first season, but the Reds struggled during the 2025/26 campaign. The club finished fifth in their defense of the title and ended the season without a trophy, despite a record spending spree during the summer.
Liverpool's ownership stated they concluded that change is necessary for the club to keep moving forward. The club added that the process to appoint a successor is currently under way.
