Ukraine has requested that Turkey host a summit meeting between President Volodymyr Zelenskiy and Russian President Vladimir Putin. Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha stated that Kyiv is pushing for direct talks in a renewed effort to reinvigorate stalling peace negotiations and end the war.

Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan told NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte during a meeting in Ankara that Turkey is making efforts to revive negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. The Turkish presidency confirmed that Erdogan is working to bring together the leaders of the warring sides.

However, the Kremlin has indicated specific conditions for such a meeting. Spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that President Putin can only meet with President Zelenskiy for the purpose of finalizing agreements on the conflict.
